I have been learning Pranayam and meditations for over 5 months now. In this time, I realized that my mind is volatile and reactive. Some days it calms at guided meditation practices and on other days closing my eyes conjures images and memories I am trying to escape. On such days, instead of focusing within my body-mind, I focus outside. I pick a tree, the sound of birds, a crack on the wall, a shadow cast by a basket, anything in my background to focus on. It is, at the end of the day, an attempt to give my mind a creak from its anxious thought and hopefully disciplining it enough to converse with it.
Here are some videos I made with the aim of focusing on without, when focusing within feels impossible.
Falling asleep in a hammock
Imagine
- The sound of waves
- Breeze touching your toes
- The feeling of your hair as it blows across your shoulders
- Being rocked slightle
- The feel of a soft cloth on your face
- The sound of the hammock
- The sound of the wind
- The sound of the birds
Watching Birds build a nest
Imagine
- Sitting in a small balcony over looking trees
- The cold of the floor against your bottom and legs
Spending an evening at the beach
Imagine
- the sand
- the sound of the water
- distant sound people playing around
- water touching your feet
- water washing away
- the colour of the sky
- the shape of the coulds
